Why Choose MLT at EIRA?

Essential to every diagnosis

Every diagnosis starts in the lab. Lab technicians are essential to every hospital and clinic — and Pakistan's diagnostic-lab industry is one of the fastest-growing healthcare segments.

Hospital and diagnostic careers

MLT graduates work in hospital labs and large diagnostic chains (Chughtai, Excel, Shaukat Khanum, Agha Khan). A private diagnostic / blood-testing setup is only possible under a registered pathologist — not independently as an MLT alone.

Gulf employment pathways

Lab technicians are also in active demand in Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia — strong abroad pathway with manageable licensing requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions — MLT

What is an MLT course and what does a medical lab technician do?

A Medical Lab Technician (MLT) performs clinical laboratory tests — blood tests, urine analysis, cultures, hematology, biochemistry, and pathology. The 2-year MLT diploma is the entry credential into hospital and diagnostic-lab work in Pakistan and abroad.

Can I open my own diagnostic lab after MLT?

Not independently. In Pakistan a diagnostic / blood-testing lab must operate under a registered pathologist. After MLT you can work in hospital and private labs, and you may partner in or help run a lab setup under a pathologist — but the MLT diploma alone does not authorize running a lab by yourself.

What is the MLT course fee at EIRA Institute Rawalpindi?

MLT admission fee is Rs 20,000 (one-time) and monthly fee is Rs 9,000. Federal Board registration Rs 10,000 and examination Rs 9,500.

What is the eligibility for MLT after matric?

Matric or FSc with any subjects, minimum 46% marks, age 18–30 years. Domicile is not required. Open to all genders. Biology background helpful but not required.

Is MLT in demand in Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia?

Yes. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait all run active hiring for lab technicians, often with sponsored visas. After MLT + 2–3 years experience, candidates can sit Saudi Prometric or DHA / HAAD licensing exams for Gulf placements.

What is the difference between MLT and OT Technician?

MLT is laboratory-focused — blood tests, pathology, biochemistry. OT Technician is operation-theatre focused — surgical instruments, sterilization, anesthesia assistance. Both are 2-year allied-health diplomas with hospital and Gulf demand.
