What is an MLT course and what does a medical lab technician do?
A Medical Lab Technician (MLT) performs clinical laboratory tests — blood tests, urine analysis, cultures, hematology, biochemistry, and pathology. The 2-year MLT diploma is the entry credential into hospital and diagnostic-lab work in Pakistan and abroad.
Can I open my own diagnostic lab after MLT?
Not independently. In Pakistan a diagnostic / blood-testing lab must operate under a registered pathologist. After MLT you can work in hospital and private labs, and you may partner in or help run a lab setup under a pathologist — but the MLT diploma alone does not authorize running a lab by yourself.
What is the MLT course fee at EIRA Institute Rawalpindi?
EIRA Institute MLT admission fee is normally Rs 20,000 (one-time). The September offer gives 50% off, so the admission fee is now Rs 10,000. The monthly fee is Rs 9,000. Monthly fee discount of 20% is also available for needy and meritorious students.
What is the eligibility for MLT after matric?
Matric or FSc with any subjects, minimum 46% marks, age 16–30 years. Domicile is not required. Open to all genders. Biology background helpful but not required.
Is MLT in demand in Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait all run active hiring for lab technicians, often with sponsored visas. After MLT + 2–3 years experience, candidates can sit Saudi Prometric or DHA / HAAD licensing exams for Gulf placements.
What is the difference between MLT and OT Technician?
MLT is laboratory-focused — blood tests, pathology, biochemistry. OT Technician is operation-theatre focused — surgical instruments, sterilization, anesthesia assistance. Both are 2-year allied-health diplomas with hospital and Gulf demand.
